Rutheran Sivagnanam
Director
Chambers Group Sdn. Bhd.

Mr Rutheran Sivagnanam is a Director of the Chambers Group (CG) and the founder of RSA Chambers(RSA). CG is a multi-disciplinary advisory practice that facilitates inward investment, joint ventures in healthcare projects, real estate acquisitions and development ventures and other forms of joint development and collaboration in various jurisdictions. As a lawyer he heads the Dispute Resolution & Corporate Advisory Practice Group of RSA. Mr Sivagnanam commands nearly 3 decades of experience and presides over a wide sphere of practice and Corporate experience.
Employment and industrial law continue to be amongst RSA's leading practice divisions. Here he continues to lead the firm in taking on difficult cases, leveraging upon his wide industry knowledge and multi disciplinary strengths. In the field of Employment Law, he was amongst those who pioneered wage reform through a period where MEF initiatives for Performance Related Pay was gaining attention since the 1990s. He had in this time restructured dated collective agreements and phase out rigid practices, paving the way for new and robust variable reward
schemes in a number of notable cases. He took on industrial conflict involving Trade Unions, their scope and recognition and fiduciary infractions at the highest levels.
RSA Chambers and the CG have over the years aggressively diversified across the Corporate and Commercial value chain. He has been able to carve out a unique and niche practice in the fast paced corporate sector where he is called upon to advise leading corporations, prominent entrepreneurs, high net individuals and institutions in a wide range of complex issues and transactions. These include navigating the establishment of joint ventures, acquisitions, capital raising and insolvency related problems and challenges.
An area of work which he had constantly been involved in since the onset of the Asian financial crisis in 1997 and across the Banking Crisis of 2007 and now in the post Covid 19 era, entailed the re-organisation and restructuring of companies, managing change and creating value. He was part of the GLC Transformation Program under Khazanah Nasional Berhad which enabled him to utilize much of this experience.
In his dispute resolution practice Mr. Sivagnanam regularly appears before the Industrial Court of Malaysia, the High Courts, the Courts of Appeal and the Federal Court in a wide cross section of disciplines. This has complemented the work of CG and has given it the breadth and credibility to grow.
The MEF has been an institution he has been associated with for the past 30 years over the course of professional practice and it would be a privilege to take that a step further.
