MEF Medical Benefits & Man-Days Loss (Including Absenteeism) Survey 2015

The MEF Medical Benefits & Man‐Days Loss (Including Absenteeism) Survey was conducted on 24 March 2015. The objective of the Survey was to provide companies with a comprehensive guide on the best practices adopted by companies on the following subjects:
  • on various types of medical benefits provided by companies to their employees
  • on total number of man‐days loss (including absenteeism) in 2014, the causes of man‐days loss and measures to reduce the loss

Some of the findings of the Survey were:
  • The average annual limit for outpatient medical consultation and treatment benefits for Top/Senior Managers was RM7,334 per year, while it was RM4,468 for Managers and RM2,842 for Executives.
  • Based on the 7,219 employees of the 37 companies that were hospitalised, the average hospitalisation expenses was RM4,475.36 per employee.
  • Based on the 79,173 employees throughout 2014, the analysis indicated that an average of 263.92 working days available to each employee in a year and that there were 591,199 man-days loss in 2014. Based on the formula, 2.83% of available working days was lost in 2014.
  • Man-days loss was most likely to occur before or after public holidays or festivals (33.7%), followed by, no specific period (28.6%), and before or after rest days (26.5%).
