​On 19 December 2014 Malaysian Employers Federation launched the Practical Guidelines for Employers on the Recruitment, Placement Employment and Repatriation of Foreign Workers in Malaysia. The Practical Guidelines were developed by MEF with support of the ILO's GMS TRIANGLE project to strengthen the role of employers in the management of foreign workers.

The Practical Guidelines serve as a comprehensive document to provide practical guidance to employers on managing foreign workers and to promote best practices in compliance with labour and immigration laws.

A survey was conducted which identified issues and challenges faced by employers in the management of foreign labour as well as current best practices.
