​The National Labour Advisory Council Technical Committee (NLAC TC) set up by the Ministry of Human Resources (MoHR) has convened a meeting today, 11 November 2019, to discuss the MoHR’s proposed amendments to the Employment Act 1955 and Trade Unions Act 1959.

MEF and MTUC representatives attended the NLAC TC meeting. MEF was represented by its President Tan Sri Dato’ Azman Shah Haron, Executive Director Datuk Haji Shamsuddin Bardan and a number of MEF council members. MTUC was represented by its President Dato’ Halim Mansor, Secretary-General Mr. J. Solomon and a number of its office bearers.

MEF and MTUC would like to make a joint statement to the media that the MEF’s and MTUC’s representatives in the NLAC TC meeting have held discussion on the MoHR’s, MEF’s and MTUC’s proposed amendments to the Employment Act 1955 and Trade Unions Act 1959. MEF and MTUC have reached consensus on certain areas of the proposed amendments. MEF and MTUC agreed to defer other areas of the proposed amendments for further discussion by both parties.
